very important

As I was finishing my paper about mi niñez en Oregón, I had a very important and entirely unrelated epiphany.

I love trophies.

I don't love them because the knit-covered ones are really hip right now. I don't love them because I'm a big fan of creating endangered species. I just really like the feel they give a room.

I love trophies for the same reason I love pick-up trucks and cowboy boots: they remind me of home. I love trophies for the same reason I love (or would be willing to love) guys that go hunting with their dads and granddads every fall: they're masculine and remind me of home. I am not so big on the drinking connotation, but you know... If the Mormon version of that kind of man exists, that would be great. Except I'd also want him to be a college graduate, and well read, and I'm pretty sure those kind of guys are few and far between as is. Ok. Enough ruminations on boys. I just really love trophies! I love trophies and I love walking through Bass Pro Shop and I want my gun license and one of those cool camo overall sets!

So, end of story, judge me if you must. But I really love trophies.

Also, I know when I told my mom this, she was like "You're crazy." Girls who liberal arts majors, that didn't grow up going fishing, that have the reputation of staying up until the crack of dawn rereading Jane Austen and making Valentines, are not usually the kind of girls who are also into hunting. I am going to use the Texas card to justify this. I can be this kind of person because I am TEXAN.
